The Fast Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) machine operates using a rapidly reciprocating molybdenum wire electrode (8-10 m/s) that can be reused, achieving high cutting speeds with typical accuracy of 0.05-0.08 mm.
The process utilizes electrical sparks between the negatively charged wire and positively charged workpiece to precisely cut through metal. The wire's high melting point and continuous movement ensure minimal wear while effectively removing workpiece material.
Fast wire EDM technology originated in China during the 1960s and has evolved through advancements in computer controls, working media, and composite fluids. Contemporary machines combine enhanced functionality with superior design aesthetics.
